The HighScope preschool curriculum provides an approach characterised by children’s active participatory learning, a process of planning, action and review, which enables children’s skill acquisition, self-efficacy, independence and conflict resolution. It provides cognitive, communicative and socio-emotional scaffolds for adult guidance. This curriculum includes a set of resources to support teachers in creating nurturing learning environments and experiences that reflect active learning as a focus of the curriculum.
We start planning by setting an objective, selecting the materials and the actions we will undertake.
We carry out the project we have thought of, based on the previously planned, accompanied by a teacher.
We evaluate our work together with other colleagues, overcoming daily challenges in a positive way.
We do this through experiences that integrate the entire educational community. We celebrate learning with interdisciplinary activities that involve teachers, families and students, allowing us to demonstrate progress and new routines. We offer workshops for parents, support for nannies and/or caregivers, and teacher training on topics such as RULER, sensory stimulation and socio-emotional support. We document learning with an aesthetic and reflective approach, creating transformative spaces and personalised reports that narrate the integral development of each child.
We see challenges as a unique opportunity to create.
We promote active thinking and critical reasoning.
We encourage independence and decision-making.
We build knowledge through experience.
We involve parents in the school routine.
A space to explore shapes and structures, where we strengthen our motor and construction skills.
A cosy corner that invites role play, encouraging imagination, empathy and social interaction.
A quiet and stimulating space where we immerse ourselves in stories, developing a taste for reading and comprehension.
An environment full of colours and textures, designed to express creativity and freely explore different art forms.
