The New Cambridge School history began in 1968, when Mr. Jairo Tobias Rey Acevedo purchased a school in Bucaramanga that had 65 students, day and night classes, troupes and a great desire to educate leading citizens. It was called Colegio Santo Tomás. It kept this name for 24 years, but what came with the new management was an evolutionary spirit that would set the course of the school.
In the early 1990s, the name was changed from Colegio Santo Tomás to New Cambridge School, to indicate more clearly that the pedagogical model had a secular and cutting-edge concept. In addition, teaching methodologies around the world were reviewed to find the most appropriate ways to provide a modern education aware of the international context.
One year before celebrating the School's 50th anniversary, the national results of the Saber Test ranked New Cambridge School number one in the country. Over the past few years, the School has stood out as one of the top 3 schools nationwide, offering high academic quality with ideal environments for developing and learning.
