Seniors 2025 achieve excellent results in the IB Diploma Programme

Of the 64 students who took part in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) during the 2024–2025 academic year, 36 successfully earned their diploma—an overall pass rate of 56.25%.

At New Cambridge School, we understand excellence through the lens of integrity: we don’t just educate academically successful students, we nurture human beings capable of developing physically, emotionally and ethically. This enables them to become well-rounded individuals, better prepared to face the challenges of an increasingly dynamic, competitive and global world.

Our Class of 2025 is a testament to this philosophy, and their achievements in the IB Diploma Programme are clear proof of it. A total of 36 graduates earned the IB diploma out of the 64 who enrolled in the programme during the 2024–2025 school year—a milestone we proudly celebrate alongside them, one that motivates us to keep driving forward a global, high-quality education.

What is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme?

Being prepared for university—and even more so for the world of work—is essential in today’s world. The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is built on this premise, offering students aged 16 to 19 a rigorous and holistic education that equips them with the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical skills needed for higher education and life beyond school.

Delivered over the final two years of secondary education, the DP goes beyond traditional schooling, developing critical thinking, research, academic writing, communication, self-management, global awareness, and a spirit of service. At the same time, it fosters a balanced life where academic achievement and personal growth go hand in hand.

How is the IB Diploma awarded?

To earn this prestigious international qualification, our students met a number of requirements, including achieving a minimum of 24 points across their subject exams (each graded out of a maximum of 7); successfully completing the CAS component (Creativity, Activity and Service); and submitting both the Extended Essay and their work for Theory of Knowledge, two core elements of the programme.

The maximum score a student can achieve is 45. This year, Paula Andrea Duque Vargas, Senior 2025, earned an outstanding 38 points—the highest DP score ever achieved by a Cambridge student to date. Below, we proudly share the top 10 scores from this year’s cohort.
